Psychotherapy
My goals when working with
a client are to:
-
Provide an environment where there is a feeling of
safety and comfort.
-
Listen
so that I can learn about the client and find out
what his or her goals are. With this information I can
suggest the most effective tools for the
particular situation. The client gets to decide what we
work on and what techniques we use.
-
Teach
techniques that the client can use at home. This way the
client plays a vital role in his or her own
resolution of problems.
-
Provide a holistic
approach in which I
consider all aspects of the client – physical,
emotional, mental, and spiritual. I know that any
difficulties and changes in one aspect affect the rest.
Mind and Body function together as a system, as a whole.
“As a psychotherapist I
have an honored role as someone who listens and bears
witness to individuals with a multitude of experiences,
backgrounds, and struggles. I strive to create a space for
clients to come to, a space in which they can trust me with
their hopes and dreams, as well as with their worst fears
and deepest pains. While considering their unique
personalities, I take the information they give me and craft
the tools that allow them to explore and resolve their
dilemmas.” Sue Stevenson, Ph.D.
