Energy Psychology
What is Energy Psychology?
-
Energy Psychology is the umbrella term for a family of
techniques that are changing the face of psychotherapy.
These techniques are unusual and, yet, surprisingly
effective. The Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) and The
Tapas Acupressure Technique (TAT) are two of the most
commonly used Energy Psychology techniques.
-
Many
Energy Psychology techniques are based upon the use of
acupressure points on the body and the pathways of
energy that flow between these points. Chinese
scientists and physicians have mapped these points and
their pathways throughout the body. More recently
researchers have verified and confirmed their existence.
These pathways are bio-electro-magnetic in nature.
Energy Psychology techniques have been described as
acupressure for the mind and emotions.
How does
it work?
The
theory behind Energy Psychology (EP) is that negative
emotions are associated with a disruption or blockage in the
body's energy system. Various EP techniques involve holding
or tapping specific Accupressure points on the body while
focusing on a problem or issue. Stimulating the Acupressure
points clears the energy disruption and the negative
emotion. The issue around the negative emotion is processed,
allowing for a more neutral or relaxed state of mind. The
energy system and emotions are brought into balance. The
emotional, mental, and physical systems can work more
effectively and easily without the blocks, stuck negative
emotions, and the problems that would bog them down. Some
issues can even be cleared without knowledge of the original
source of the problem.
What
could it be used for?
EP can
be used for a wide range of issues. It has been successfully
used for physical pain, habits, phobias, anxiety,
depression, weight issues, food cravings, sports
performance, and more. The Emotional Freedom Technique has
treated many war Veterans, allowing them relief from Post
Traumatic Stress Disorder. More recently, EP techniques have
been used effectively with survivors and rescue workers of
the 9/11 tragedy, as well as with survivors of the 2004
tsunami. The list of issues treated continues to grow.
How do
we know Energy Psychology techniques work?
Numerous research studies have been completed that show EP
techniques to be effective. Research continues on an ongoing
basis and will no doubt further validate this growing and
innovative field. Check out these studies by clicking on

What
can I expect when using these techniques?
Those
who have used EP report a variety of experiences. During the
process some individuals notice feeling a "shift", a
lightening, or a release. Still others notice insights into
the issue being processed that help them better understand
the original cause of the issue. The original cause and any
related aspects of the problem can then be cleared as well.
This allows for a more complete resolution of the issue for
the individual. Whether individuals notice subtle shifts
or striking
changes, EP techniques work quickly, effectively, and at a
deep level.
